ANALYSIS OF AEL ACADEMIA'S LOGO

 "As well as marking natural meadows, the daisy has another advantage: it is very well known by the general public, who has no trouble identifying it." Olivier Aballain

When you look at the AEL Academia logo, you see a flower evoking the strong roots and deep essence of language.

But that's not all: the design also reveals a captivating vision of the transmission of information, symbolising the enriching exchange of knowledge.

The dot over the "i", shaped like a magnificent blue gerbera daisy, catches our eye. The daisy is an emblematic flower that can be found everywhere, from France to Belgium to Quebec. It embodies the French language beyond the usual clichés, having been celebrated by many poets. Famous authors have also borne this flowery name, such as Marguerite Duras and Marguerite de Navarre in France, and Marguerite Yourcenar in Belgium.

Daisies bloom everywhere, from the UK to southern Europe, from Canada to Mexico, and even the altars of churches in Yucatan are adorned with these delicate flowers.

This logo, designed by the Belgian-French photographer Alexandre Laurent, author of exceptional aerial photography books, gives an international dimension to my website designed by a Quebec company.

Over the horizon with burnished hills,

The sun, that flower of infinite splendour,

Bending over the earth in the sunset hour;

A humble daisy, blooming at the edge of a field,

On a grey wall crumbling among the wild oats,

White, blossomed her candid halo;

And the little flower over the old wall,

Staring into the eternal blue,

The great star shedding its immortal light,

- And I have rays too! - she told him.

Victor Hugo (1802-1885), "Unity".
